This was a typical 1980's style tract house kitchen remodel. These are Alder cabinets with a Stain and glazed finish. We enlarged the window, over the sink, down to the counter top level; this allows the granite to flow to the glazing. We removed the upper cabinets over the peninsula and used glass doors with glass shelving, in a shallow upper cabinet next to the refrigerator. We raised the ceiling to the same height as the rest of the adjoining rooms, and added fluorescent can lighting. These small inexpensive add-ons give this kitchen a light open feeling.
